How Chess Reps works, in four steps.

    Create a repertoire

    Open Repertoires and add a new one. Name it, paste a thumbnail FEN, paste a PGN that contains every line and sideline you want to learn, and choose the side you play. A Lichess study chapter or an opening-explorer export works well as a PGN source. Give exactly one answer to each opponent move so lines never conflict.

    Train it

    Open Train and pick a repertoire. Chess Reps picks a line and plays the opponent's moves for you — you answer from memory. When the opponent plays a move marked as a mistake (?!, ? or ??) it is flagged in amber with the explanation, so you learn what to punish. Each completed line moves on to the next one automatically.

    Learn from mistakes

    A wrong move is taken back and the correct move is drawn on the board. Before you replay it, think about why that move is right — the reasoning is what makes the line stick.

    Sharpen your eye for blunders

    Lessons has one-move drills. In the hanging-piece sets your opponent’s blunder is played on the board, then you find the move that wins the piece. In Spot the hanging pieces you click every piece you could win for free — or say nothing hangs. Turn on Auto-advance to move on by itself after a correct answer.
